Troubleshooting

What to check when something isn't right, by what you see. Two things fix more than anything else: keep the Director Sportif window open, and after installing or updating, quit Sauce fully and start it again.

Installing and updating

What you seeLikely whyWhat to do
Director Sportif isn't in Sauce's Mods tabSauce didn't find it, or hasn't looked since you installed it.Check the folder (below), then quit Sauce from the tray icon (Windows) or the menu bar (Mac) and start it again. Closing its windows isn't enough.
Still not thereThe folder is in the wrong place, or one level too deep.It must be Documents\SauceMods\director-sportif\manifest.json. With OneDrive, Documents is the OneDrive one (C:\Users\you\OneDrive\Documents). Unzipping can add an extra folder (director-sportif-…\director-sportif\…): move the inner one up.
It's listed but its windows aren't in Add new windowThe mod isn't enabled.Mods tab: tick Enabled, then restart Sauce.
Updated, but nothing changedSauce is still running the old copy.Quit Sauce fully and start it again. The version you're running is the "version" line in the folder's manifest.json.
Settings gone after updatingShouldn't happen: settings live in Sauce, not in the mod's folder.Check you replaced the director-sportif folder rather than adding a second one next to it with another name.

Step by step: install and first setup, and updating.

Windows

What you seeLikely whyWhat to do
No title bar, can't find the gear or close buttonTitle bars hide until you need them.Right-click the window.
The Grid says "waiting for the Director Sportif window"That window is closed, or still starting.Open Director Sportif from Sauce's settings ▸ Windows ▸ Add new window. Keep it open; it can sit behind Zwift.
The Director Sportif window says "open "Director Sportif — Grid" for the meters"No Grid is open yet.Add the Grid window too. The hint goes away once a Grid is open.
"running, but this Sauce can't pass data to the Grid"An old or unusual Sauce.Update Sauce. Calls and recording still work; only the Grid can't show the meters.
The Grid is invisible over ZwiftIt's see-through, and nothing is showing yet.Move the mouse over it, or pick a solid theme in the Grid's settings (Look tab).
The Grid changed sizeFit window refits it when you change its slots, columns or text size.Drag it back: that size stays until the next such change. Or turn Fit window off. See the Grid.
A window is stuck and won't closeRare: a window that failed to load.Quit Sauce from the tray and start it again.

Sound and calls

What you seeLikely whyWhat to do
No calls at allNothing to say yet: riding alone, or a quiet stretch.Join a group ride to check. Most calls come from the pack, the road ahead and the finish.
Words on the window, but no soundThat kind of call has Voice and Chime off, or the sound goes somewhere else.Calls tab: tick Voice or Chime for it. Check your computer's sound output is where your ears are (the same place Zwift's sound goes).
Chimes but no voiceYour computer has no speech voice installed. The voice is your computer's own speech. On Windows, add one in Settings ▸ Time & language ▸ Speech.
The voice is hard to hear over musicIt plays at full volume already, alongside everything else.Turn the music down a little, or tick Chime too: a chime cuts through where a voice doesn't.
Too many callsSome kinds come often in a busy group (being passed, bends).Calls tab: switch those off, or chime only. See the calls.
The window says "watching another rider: no calls"Sauce is watching someone else (after a camera change in Zwift).Switch Zwift's view back to yourself. The calls come back on their own.
No race card callsNo card for this route, or you're not in an event.See race cards.
No power-up callsYou aren't holding one, the Power-up row has Voice and Chime off, or your bike is set to TT (no finish power-up calls then).Check the Calls and You tabs. The calls come only for what you hold.
No "block left", "supertuck" or "coast"They're for races only.Tick Practice race on the Calls tab to hear them on any ride.
No Bridge buttonIt starts hidden.Tick Bridge button on the Calls tab.
A red banner: no heart rateYou or a teammate have had no heart rate for 20 s.Pair the strap or tell your teammate, then press I know. See the calls.

Meters

What you seeLikely whyWhat to do
Watt meters read 0, distances are blankNothing to measure: riding alone, a few seconds after a teleport, or a bike that gets no draft (a TT bike in a group ride, a time trial).Nothing: they fill once you're in a group.
"waiting for Zwift data" on the Director Sportif windowSauce isn't getting data from Zwift.Check Sauce's own Overview window. If it shows no power or speed either, the problem is Sauce's connection to Zwift, not the mod.
"no map" under Wheel gap, or "Est. wheel gap"A new road Sauce has no map for yet.Nothing: after a few seconds gaps are measured from where Zwift puts you along the road. They can be meters off.
The numbers look too high or too lowThe meters don't know your bike: Sauce doesn't say which one you ride.Set your bike and wheels in the You tab. When you join an event, the Director Sportif asks about the bike: check it then.
The bike box is red when joining an eventIt's a time trial and your bike isn't set to a TT bike.Pick the bike you're really on.
FRC empties too fast or neverYour FTP and FRC aren't set.Set them in the You tab (left blank: your Zwift profile's FTP and 15 kJ).
The Director Sportif window reading waiting for Zwift data, with Record and a grayed-out Mark button.
No data from Zwift: the Director Sportif window says so on its line.

What each meter means: the meters.

Recording, OBS and race cards

Each has its own list on its own page:

Still stuck?

Write to hello@caffecter.com with what you saw, what you expected, and the version (the "version" line in the mod's manifest.json). If it happened during a ride and you were recording, press Mark at the moment; a recording with a mark shows us exactly where to look. Don't send it unless we ask.
